The All Progressives Congress has suffered another political setback following the defection of key grassroots figures in Jigawa State to the African Democratic Congress.
Three former local government chairmen—Hon. Saleh Ahmad Danzomo (Sule Tankarkar), Hon. Lawal Ismail (Babura), and Hon. Tukur Ali Zugai (Roni)—have officially dumped the APC alongside their supporters, signaling a shift in the political tide at the grassroots level.
In a related development, the former Majority Leader of the Hadejia Local Government Councillors’ Council has also resigned from the ruling party and pitched his tent with the ADC.
The wave of defections is being interpreted by political observers as a growing challenge for the APC’s dominance in parts of the state, especially as realignments intensify ahead of future elections.
Supporters of the defectors describe the move as strategic and timely, expressing optimism that the ADC will gain momentum in the evolving political landscape.
