The Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, has commended Governor Umo Eno for increasing the allowances of police officers and other security personnel serving at Government House by over 200 per cent.
Azare described the gesture as a significant demonstration of concern for the welfare of security personnel and recognition of their sacrifices in protecting government officials and maintaining security.
In a statement issued on October 26, 2026, the police commissioner expressed appreciation to the governor on behalf of the beneficiaries, describing the allowance increase as a welcome development that would help align their welfare with the responsibilities they discharge.
He noted that improved welfare was an important way of acknowledging the dedication, commitment and sacrifices of officers and men who work to ensure the safety of Government House and its occupants.
According to him, Governor Eno’s decision reflects recognition of the vital role security personnel play in safeguarding lives and property, while providing motivation for them to discharge their duties more effectively.
Azare added that the gesture would boost morale and encourage greater commitment, loyalty and professionalism among the beneficiaries.
He assured the governor that the officers would reciprocate the support by remaining disciplined, vigilant and professional in the discharge of their responsibilities.
The commissioner also commended Eno for his continued support for security agencies in the state, expressing gratitude for the governor’s attention to the welfare needs of personnel.
On behalf of the officers and men of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, Azare prayed for God to grant the governor continued wisdom, strength and guidance in leading the state.
The allowance increase is expected to provide additional financial support to security personnel serving at Government House, although the police statement did not disclose the previous or new allowance amounts.
