…..Two motorcycle-riding attackers open fire in front of Islamic scholar’s residence in Dutsin-Ma

Suspected armed gunmen have killed prominent Islamic scholar, Sheikh Yahaya Ibrahim Masussuka, and his friend, Adamu Abubakar, in a deadly attack in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The tragic incident occurred at about 7:30 p.m. on Monday, October 26, 2026, in front of the scholar’s residence, when two armed men riding on a motorcycle reportedly opened fire on the victims.
The Katsina State Police Command confirmed the deaths, describing the incident as a tragic loss that has thrown the victims’ families, friends and followers into mourning.
According to the police, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Dutsin-Ma immediately led a team of operatives to the scene after receiving the report.
The victims were rushed to the nearest hospital for emergency medical attention but were subsequently pronounced dead by the attending medical doctor.
Following the attack, the Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Ali Umar Fage, has ordered the deployment of tactical and operational teams to the area to strengthen security and track down the fleeing assailants.
The command said an investigation had commenced, while efforts were being intensified to identify, locate and arrest the suspects.
CP Fage also extended his condolences to the families, friends and followers of the deceased, as well as residents of Dutsin-Ma, over the tragic incident.
He assured the public that the police would sustain efforts to apprehend those responsible and ensure they are brought to justice.
The command said further developments would be communicated as the investigation progresses.
