KATSINA — Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has mourned the killing of renowned Islamic cleric, Sheikh Yahaya Ibrahim Masussuka, describing him as a champion of peaceful coexistence and interfaith harmony.

The governor also assured residents that the circumstances surrounding the cleric’s death would be thoroughly investigated, with security agencies expected to identify and bring those responsible to justice.

Sheikh Masussuka and his associate, Adamu Abubakar, were reportedly killed by unidentified gunmen riding motorcycles outside the cleric’s residence in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area on Monday night, October 26, 2026.

In a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, Governor Radda expressed shock over the incident and extended his sympathies to the bereaved family, the Islamic community and all those affected by the tragedy.

The governor urged the family to remain steadfast in faith, praying that Almighty Allah would grant them the strength and patience to endure the painful loss.

Radda condemned the killing and called on security agencies to intensify efforts to unravel the circumstances of the incident and ensure that the perpetrators face the full weight of the law.

He added that the cleric stood against violent extremism and radicalisation, making his death a painful loss to the community.
