The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has carried out an unscheduled inspection of the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), sending a strong message on discipline and efficiency.
During the surprise visit on April 14, the CP assessed detention facilities, case files, and operational procedures, stressing the need for prompt and professional handling of cases.
Giwa warned officers against delays, negligence, and mishandling of investigations, noting that such lapses undermine public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
He directed investigators to strictly adhere to due process, ensure timely prosecution of suspects, and uphold the highest standards of professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
The police boss also emphasized respect for human rights and proper documentation, cautioning that any officer found wanting would face disciplinary action.
The inspection, according to the Command, is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen accountability, improve service delivery, and restore public trust in policing across the state.
