Osun State Government has taken the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to court over the alleged freezing of its statutory allocation account, demanding ₦2 billion in damages.
The state government, in a suit filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja, is challenging the legality of the EFCC’s directive restricting access to the account.
The suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1762/2026, was filed on August 5, 2026, with the state asking the court to nullify the anti-graft agency’s action.
Osun is also seeking ₦2 billion in exemplary damages against the EFCC, arguing that the commission’s directive was unlawful and should not be allowed to stand.
The legal battle sets the stage for a fresh confrontation between the state government and the nation’s leading anti-corruption agency over the control and use of public funds.
The case is expected to draw significant attention as the court considers the state’s request to overturn the account restriction and award damages against the EFCC.
