….Three Suspects Arrested With Hacksaw, Knife, Motorcycle, Suspected Charms

The long arm of the law has caught up with three suspected electricity cable vandals in Katsina State, following their arrest with 60 metres of suspected stolen electric cable in Rimi Local Government Area.
The suspects — Mansur Suleiman, 23; Mansur Hamza, 21; and Jibrin Ahmed, 28 — were arrested at about 8:30pm on August 2 by operatives of the Rimi Divisional Police Command during a routine patrol.
The operation, according to the Katsina State Police Command, was strengthened by the timely cooperation of members of the local community who assisted the police in identifying and intercepting the suspects.
A search reportedly uncovered 60 metres of 100mm electric cable wire, alongside a collection of items allegedly linked to the suspected criminal activity.
Among the exhibits recovered were a hacksaw, scissors, knife, suspected criminal charms, a motorcycle and dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
The arrest comes as the Katsina Police Command intensifies its campaign against the vandalisation and theft of public infrastructure, particularly facilities critical to electricity supply and other essential services.
The command said the suspects are currently in custody while investigation continues to determine the full extent of their alleged activities and whether they are connected to other cases of infrastructure vandalism.
They are expected to be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Umar Fage, commended residents of Rimi for their vigilance and cooperation with the police, stressing that community participation remains crucial in preventing crime and protecting public assets.
Fage warned vandals and other criminals targeting public or private property that Katsina State would not provide a safe haven for their activities.
He urged residents to remain alert and promptly report suspicious movements around electricity installations and other critical infrastructure.
The latest arrests underscore the Police Command’s renewed determination to make Katsina increasingly difficult terrain for criminals targeting the state’s infrastructure.
