The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over his handling of Nigeria’s economy, declaring that the President deserves credit for what he described as efforts to rescue the country from the brink of economic collapse.

Sanusi, while assessing the administration’s economic direction, acknowledged what he described as improvements in key economic indicators, including economic growth, inflation, foreign reserves and export diversification.

The former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said the developments reflected progress in the country’s economic recovery, stressing that Tinubu deserved recognition for the steps taken to reposition the economy.

According to the Emir, improvements in these critical areas suggest that Nigeria is making progress towards restoring economic stability and strengthening its position in the global economy.

His remarks come amid continuing national conversations over the impact of the Federal Government’s economic reforms, particularly their effects on businesses, households and the cost of living.

While the administration has maintained that its policies are laying the foundation for long-term economic recovery, Nigerians continue to face concerns over living costs and the wider effects of economic adjustments.

Sanusi’s comments add to the ongoing debate over the Tinubu administration’s economic performance, particularly the extent to which reported improvements in macroeconomic indicators are translating into better living conditions for ordinary Nigerians.
