Sokoto ‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌governor’s aide urges new AIG to intensify fight against insecurity

Katsina State Government

The Special Adviser to Gov. Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto on Security Matters, Col. Ahmed Usman (rtd.), has urged the new Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 10, Ahmed Musa, to intensify efforts against banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes.
Usman made the call in a congratulatory message issued in Sokoto to felicitate Musa on his assumption of duty as the 25th AIG in charge of Zone 10 Police Headquarters, Sokoto.

He described the appointment as an opportunity to strengthen security and deepen inter-agency collaboration across Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states.

According to him, Musa’s previous service as Commissioner of Police in Sokoto state has equipped him with firsthand knowledge of the security challenges confronting the region and the operational strategies required to address them.

He expressed confidence that the new AIG will deploy his wealth of experience, professional expertise and understanding of the region’s security dynamics to improve security operations across the zone.

Usman urged Musa to sustain the fight against criminal elements through intelligence-led policing, effective deployment of personnel, improved operational coordination and closer collaboration with the military, other security agencies, community leaders and local security outfits.

He also emphasised the need to strengthen intelligence gathering and information sharing among security agencies, noting that timely and credible information from residents was critical to preventing attacks, rescuing abducted persons and bringing perpetrators to justice.

The security adviser encouraged the new AIG to prioritise the protection of vulnerable communities, strengthen police-community relations and ensure that officers under his command discharged their duties professionally, with discipline and respect for human rights.

He noted that the complex security situation in the North-West required sustained commitment, strategic leadership and collective action by security agencies, government authorities and citizens.

Usman also urged residents of the three states to support security agencies by providing useful information on the activities of criminal elements and avoiding the spread of unverified reports capable of creating panic or undermining ongoing security operations.

He assured Musa of the state government’s continued commitment to supporting security agencies in the collective effort to protect lives and property and restore lasting peace to affected communities.

The adviser wished the new AIG a successful tenure, expressing optimism that his leadership would strengthen security operations and improve public confidence in policing across Zone 10.
