In a bid to avoid eruption of disorder and crisis in Kano, youth groups under the platform of Youth for Peace Initiative (YOPI) organized peaceful march and special prayer sessions calling on the Kano State Government to respect Court Order, faulting the reappointmet of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the new Emir of Kano.
Other Emirates of Gaya, Rano, Bichi and Karaye, that were sacked by the state government, according to YOPI, was ill-informed decision, which jeopardized development taking place in those areas, courtesy the creation of the Emirates during the administration of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the immediate past governor of the state.
The coordinating youth leaders from Kano and other four Emirates of Karaye, Gaya, Bichi and Rano, Salisu Sani from Kano and Mustafa Bahago, Muttaqa Labaran, Danjuma Batijjane and Danlami Abdullahi, jointly called on the state governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, to, as a matter of urgency stand up and defend rule of law.
“Why can the state government accepted Court Order which brought them to power and rejects another Court Order which faults the reappointmet of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi? Defending rule of law shouldn’t be selective in whatever form,” they cautioned.
The groups commended all the security agencies in the state for their efforts in making sure that Court Order is respected and enforced.
Adding that,” We all love our dear state. And we will not allow underworlds to seize this opportunity and cause chaos for selfish interest of the few, among us.”
While urging the state government to maintain the status quo as directed by a High Court, they called on the security agencies to see to the peaceful return of Aminu Ado Bayero, to Gidan Dabo, Kano Palace.
Warning that,” All of us are not interested in anything that could plunge the state into state of emergency situation. We believe in democracy and we urge Kano state government to also believe and act as a democratic entity.”
