A Kwara State High Court has sentenced five men to death for their role in the notorious Offa bank robberies.
The court, presided over by Justice Haleemah Salman, found the accused guilty of armed robbery, illegal possession of firearms, and culpable homicide.
Convicted men, Ayoade Akinnibosun, Ibikunle Ogunleye, Adeola Abraham, Salahudeen Azeez, and Niyi Ogundiran, had terrorized Offa six years ago, leaving several people, including police officers, dead in a series of violent heists.
The brutal crimes shocked the nation as the robbers looted banks and caused widespread panic.
While Justice Salman handed down the death penalty for the robberies and murders, the convicts also received three years’ imprisonment for illegal possession of firearms.
This verdict marks the end of a chilling chapter in Nigeria’s criminal history, restoring hope for justice in a case that has gripped the nation for years.
