Hundreds of thousands defecting All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters in Bauchi weekend resolved to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the forthcoming general elections in the country.
The defecting Bauchi APC supporters who were in groups, associations and trade organizations said that they would continue to associate themselves with an APC stalwart, Haruna H. Garba, who said that he was coerced by his political godfather, an elder statesman to join the NDC.
Mal. Haruna Garba who holds the traditional title of Ajiyan Galambi told his mammoth supporters, “I convened this meeting to tell you about my next line of action in the current political climate in our country which is join the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) as directed by my godfather”.
Ajiyan Galambi explained that he was betrayed by the incumbent coordinating minister of health and social welfare, Prof. Mohammed Ali Pate, APC governorship aspirant in Bauchi to whom he has been canvassing support for the past three years, only to pull out from the aspiration during the recent party primary elections ahead of the polls.
“We sat twice with the minister assuring me about his governorship aspiration of Bauchi state under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), however prior to the recent party primary elections, the man summoned us to Abuja, including state party officials, only to tell us that he has pulled out from the gamble”, Ajiya said.
He added, “Now that I have pitched tent with the NDC, it’s proper and absolutely necessary to tell you about my new political bearing, and to seek your support and understanding, especially those among you who are ready to join forces with me into the NDC, particularly at the national level, from where I was cajoled into the party”.
Mal. Haruna Garba further told the supporters who were representatives of the various support groups from across the twenty Local Government Areas of Bauchi state, “I assure you the new chartered course would meet the needs and yearnings of voters, and improve the living standard of Nigerians generally.
Ajiyan Galambi recalled that almost all the gubernatorial candidates of political parties in have at one time or another after the primary elections sought his support for the 2027 polls, but has not heed to any of the calls for reasons best known to him.
“The claims that I have supporters in every nook and cranny of the state is a well known fact that you are the supporters. I doesn’t have supporters quantifiably better than you, and I will fall fray to any candidate of your choice”.
Party politics is a matter of choice, of party manifesto, of candidate’s credibility, and large of a blue print. I am not align to politics of moneybags”, Ajiya refutes.
The Ajiyan Galambi Contact and Mobilization Office has the support of 237 organizations, association and groups that included Women Network Empowerment and Development Awareness, and Concerned Citizens of North East for Peace and Development Forum.
Also in the support are Bauchi Youth Campaign Against Violence and Drug Abuse; National Association of Retired Paramilitary; Igala Community United Support Group 2027; and House to House Mobilization Support Group, among others.
