Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has appointed renowned agricultural engineer, Engr. Peter Samuel, as the new General Manager of the Borno State Agricultural Mechanization Authority (BOSAMA), in a move aimed at accelerating the state’s agricultural transformation drive.
A statement issued by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Dauda Iliya, said the appointment followed Samuel’s outstanding professional competence, proven leadership, and extensive experience in agricultural engineering and mechanization.
According to the statement, the new BOSAMA chief possesses the technical expertise and managerial capacity required to reposition the agency in line with Governor Zulum’s vision of modernising agriculture and boosting food production across the state.
Engr. Samuel is a seasoned agricultural engineer with vast experience in farm power and machinery, irrigation engineering, agricultural mechanization, and infrastructure development.
He holds a Master of Engineering in Farm Power and Machinery from Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi, a Postgraduate Diploma in Farm Management and Production Economics from Nasarawa State University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural and Environmental Resources Engineering from the University of Maiduguri.
Currently a lecturer in Farm Power and Machinery at Ramat Polytechnic, Maiduguri, Samuel has built an impressive career spanning teaching, research, project implementation, and agricultural consultancy.
He has also served in several strategic leadership roles, including General Manager of a commercial agricultural enterprise, Project Coordinator, Programme Coordinator, and consultant on agricultural development projects executed by national and international organisations.
A member of both the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Nigerian Institution of Agricultural Engineers (NIAE), Samuel is expected to bring his wealth of experience to strengthen BOSAMA’s operations.
Governor Zulum congratulated the new General Manager and charged him to deploy his expertise to drive innovation, improve mechanized farming, and advance the administration’s agenda of achieving sustainable agricultural development in Borno State.
