Fresh fears have gripped the Nigerian community in South Africa following the killing of two citizens, as xenophobic tensions continue to escalate.
The Nigerian Consulate in Johannesburg confirmed that the victims—Amaramiro Emmanuel and Ekpenyong Andrew—lost their lives in separate incidents linked to the growing hostility against foreign nationals.
In a statement, Consul-General Ninikanwa Okey-Uche disclosed that Emmanuel died from injuries allegedly sustained after being brutally beaten by personnel of the South African National Defence Force on April 20.
