Troops of Operation HADIN KAI, working alongside local hunters, have raided a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Maigero Village, Song Local Government Area of Adamawa State, forcing the criminals to flee into the surrounding forest.
Zagazola Makama gathered that the operation was carried out at about 11:20 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, following credible intelligence on the location of the suspected criminal camp.
The troops, supported by members of a local hunters’ group, moved swiftly on the hideout and made contact with the suspected kidnappers.
The ensuing pressure reportedly caught the criminals off guard, forcing them to abandon the camp and retreat deep into the forest.
The troops gave chase but later pulled back due to the difficult and heavily forested terrain.
During a subsequent search of the abandoned hideout, the troops recovered three AK-47 magazines, 25 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a Tecno mobile phone and a long chain fitted with padlocks, believed to have been used to restrain kidnapped victims.
The recovered items were taken into military custody as the troops returned to base at about 6:20 p.m.
The raid forms part of ongoing military operations under Operation HADIN KAI and Operation DESERT SANITY V aimed at dismantling kidnapping networks, disrupting criminal activities and denying terrorists and other criminal elements freedom of movement across the North-East.
Although the overall security situation in the theatre remains relatively calm, it is still considered unpredictable, with troops maintaining heightened operational readiness to respond to emerging threats.
