The Force Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Major General Saidu Audu, has called for stronger collaboration between regional forces and Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) to intensify the fight against terrorism in the Lake Chad region.
General Audu made the call during an operational visit to the Headquarters of Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The visit, according to military authorities, was aimed at strengthening joint operations and enhancing synergy between the MNJTF and OPHK in ongoing counter-terrorism operations across the North-East.
During the engagement, the Force Commander received a detailed operational briefing on the activities and successes recorded by OPHK, followed by strategic discussions with senior military officers.
Audu said the visit was designed to generate fresh operational ideas and deepen collaboration toward achieving greater success against insurgents.
“Collaborative efforts remain the most viable pathway to decisively decimate terrorist elements and deny them freedom of action,” he stated.
The MNJTF commander described the regional force as a unique multinational alliance made up of troops from contributing nations working together to combat terrorism and restore peace within the Lake Chad Basin.
He commended the Theatre Commander of OPHK, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, and troops under the command for sustaining pressure on insurgents and significantly weakening terrorist activities in the region.
Responding, the Theatre Commander described the visit as timely and strategic, noting that stronger cooperation between the two forces would further enhance operational effectiveness and regional security.
General Abdulsalam reaffirmed OPHK’s commitment to sustaining joint operations with the MNJTF in the fight against Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists across North-East Nigeria.
He also stressed the importance of continued military collaboration in protecting lives, securing communities, and improving socio-economic activities within the Chad Basin region.
The high-level visit was attended by senior military officers from both the MNJTF and OPHK, including field commanders, component commanders, and principal staff officers.
Highlights of the visit included inspection of a Quarter Guard, operational briefings, strategic interactive sessions, presentation of souvenirs, signing of the visitors’ register, and a group photograph session.
