In a decisive strike against banditry, the Katsina State Police Command has arrested a suspected informant linked to criminal gangs and uncovered a cache of alleged “criminal charms” believed to aid illicit operations.
The breakthrough, achieved under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Umar Fage, follows a distress report filed on April 9, 2026, by a resident who claimed he had been threatened with death unless he paid a staggering ₦10 million ransom.
According to police sources, the victim had received a series of menacing phone calls from unidentified individuals, plunging him into fear for his life. Acting swiftly on the complaint, detectives launched an intelligence-driven operation that led to the arrest of 28-year-old suspect, Usman Isah.
Police say the suspect was apprehended with items described as “criminal charms,” allegedly used to facilitate his activities. During interrogation, Isah reportedly confessed to the crime, revealing that he worked in collaboration with his brother, who is currently on the run.
In a chilling twist, the suspect also admitted to participating in similar criminal acts in the past, raising concerns about a wider network of informants aiding bandit operations in the region.
Security operatives have intensified efforts to track down the fleeing accomplice, while authorities confirm that the arrested suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
CP Fage has issued a stern warning to criminals and their collaborators, vowing that the command will sustain its relentless offensive against all forms of banditry and criminal support networks.
“The long arm of the law will catch up with anyone aiding or abetting crime in Katsina State,” the police chief declared.
