Chad Declares 3-Day Mourning After Deadly Boko Haram Attack on Troops

Borno State Government

The Chadian government has declared a three-day national mourning following the killing of several soldiers in recent Boko Haram attacks in the Lake Chad region.

The mourning period, which began on Thursday, comes amid growing concern over renewed terrorist assaults targeting military formations and communities around the troubled Lake Chad basin.

Authorities said the fallen soldiers died while defending the country against insurgent attacks blamed on Boko Haram fighters operating within the region.
