The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended three suspects at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport for attempting to smuggle cocaine and a potent strain of synthetic cannabis known as “Loud.”

Ihejirika Okechukwu Emmanuel, a 51-year-old fish importer, was caught on October 15 while preparing to board a flight to Thailand. A body scan revealed he had ingested five large pellets of cocaine, weighing 400 grams. Emmanuel admitted he was to be paid for delivering the drugs in Thailand.

In a separate incident, 26-year-old businessman Iwuagwu Ikedi Victory, arriving from Brazil on October 17, excreted a pellet of cocaine. He confessed to smuggling 30 pellets, handing 29 over in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and was expecting a N2.5 million payment.
