The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with a chilling murder that has sent shockwaves through Ukanafun communities.

The victim, identified simply as Okon, 27, was reportedly found burnt beyond recognition inside his room at Iko Udo Obobo Village, in what investigators describe as a deliberate and violent act.

Police operatives, acting on credible intelligence, stormed the scene, cordoned off the area, and launched a full-scale probe into the horrifying incident.

After what authorities described as sustained intelligence-driven operations, two suspects—Idem Etim and Namkere Ikoboatang—were apprehended. Both are currently in custody and are said to be providing crucial information to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killing.

The Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, has ordered a thorough investigation, vowing that all those linked to the “barbaric act” will be tracked down and prosecuted.

Police authorities have classified the incident as culpable homicide, stressing that the case will be pursued with the full weight of the law.

In a stern warning, the Command declared that Akwa Ibom is no safe haven for violent criminals, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.

Residents have been urged to stay alert and promptly report suspicious movements to security agencies as investigations continue.
