The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has called on Israel to bring its occupation of Palestinian territories to an end and return occupied lands, including East Jerusalem, while providing reparations to Palestinians for damages resulting from the occupation.
The development marks another major legal intervention in the long-running Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with the World Court stressing the need for Israel to comply with its obligations under international law.
The ICJ’s position covers Palestinian territories under Israeli occupation and includes the status of Jerusalem, one of the most contentious issues in the decades-old conflict.
The court also called for compensation and other forms of reparation for Palestinians affected by actions linked to the occupation.
