The Presidency has declared that public trust remains the foundation of a thriving democracy, urging influential social media journalists and digital content creators to prioritize accuracy and responsible reporting in the public interest.
Special Assistant to the President on Media and Public Enlightenment, Alhaji Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, said the relationship between government, the media and citizens must be anchored on trust, transparency and cooperation to foster national development.
He stressed that verifying information before publication is essential in combating misinformation and preserving the credibility of the media, especially in the fast-paced digital space.
According to him, responsible journalism—both traditional and online—plays a critical role in strengthening democratic institutions, promoting accountability and ensuring that citizens have access to factual and reliable information.
Abdulaziz urged social media influencers and online journalists to embrace ethical reporting standards, noting that accurate reporting contributes significantly to peace, public confidence and the country’s overall progress.
