Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has donated vehicles to women leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in five opposition-controlled states, in a move aimed at boosting grassroots mobilisation and strengthening party structures ahead of future political engagements.
Mrs. Tinubu announced the donation on Tuesday during the inauguration of the Tinubu Torchbearers (TTB), a pro-Tinubu support group, at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja.
The beneficiaries are APC women leaders from Abia, Anambra, Bauchi, Osun, and Oyo states, all of which are currently governed by opposition parties.
Speaking at the event, the First Lady disclosed that the vehicles would be delivered before the end of the week and emphasized that the cars would belong to the beneficiaries personally rather than to the party.
She noted that women remain a critical pillar of political mobilisation and community engagement, praising the dedication and resilience of female party leaders working to strengthen the APC at the grassroots level.
The donation was received with enthusiasm by party supporters and members of the newly inaugurated Tinubu Torchbearers group, who described the gesture as a recognition of the sacrifices and contributions of women in advancing the party’s agenda.
Political observers view the move as part of broader efforts to consolidate support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and reinforce the APC’s presence in states currently outside its control.
The inauguration of the Tinubu Torchbearers also served as a platform for supporters to reaffirm their commitment to the President’s leadership and the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
