The Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has sparked debate over Nigeria’s security challenges, alleging that victims from wealthy families receive faster attention and rescue efforts than those from poor backgrounds.
Speaking on the state of insecurity in the country, the cleric lamented what he described as unequal treatment of kidnapping victims, arguing that children of less privileged families are often forgotten while high-profile cases involving influential individuals attract swift intervention.
“The children of poor people were kidnapped and nobody rescued them, but the children of the rich were quickly rescued because they have money,” Primate Ayodele said.
He called for a more equitable security response, insisting that every Nigerian life should be valued equally regardless of social status, wealth, or political influence.
The outspoken cleric urged authorities to strengthen efforts against kidnapping and ensure that all victims receive the same level of urgency and protection.
His remarks come amid growing public concern over rising cases of abduction and violent crime across several parts of the country, with many Nigerians demanding more effective measures to tackle insecurity and protect vulnerable communities.
