The Kebbi State Government says it has recorded significant achievements in women empowerment, child protection, social welfare, and rehabilitation under the administration of Governor Nasir Idris.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Hajiya Halima Hassan Kamba, disclosed this during an Inter-Ministerial Press Briefing held in Birnin Kebbi, where she presented the ministry’s three-year performance scorecard.
Kamba highlighted several milestones recorded by the ministry, describing the current administration as “gender-friendly and a strong protector of women and children.”
According to her, the ministry has intensified efforts toward policy formulation and implementation of welfare programmes designed to protect vulnerable groups and improve the living conditions of women and children across the state.
She explained that the government has continued to invest heavily in skills acquisition and vocational training programmes aimed at empowering women and youths with tools for self-reliance and economic growth.
The commissioner also praised the wives of the governor for supporting various empowerment initiatives, noting that their interventions had complemented government efforts in poverty reduction and sustainable development.
Kamba further revealed that the ministry had provided cash grants and livelihood support materials to overgrown orphans to help them establish small businesses and become financially independent.
She reaffirmed the commitment of the ministry to sustaining programmes that promote social development, protect children’s rights, and uplift vulnerable members of society across Kebbi State.
