The Force Intelligence Department Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) of the Nigeria Police has made significant progress in the aftermath of the tragic Ohoro Forest ambush in Ughelli, Delta State.
The attack resulted in the loss of 13 police rifles to criminal elements. Through relentless efforts, FID-IRT operatives have successfully recovered 10 of these stolen weapons.
Operatives engaged the suspects in a fierce gunfight, neutralizing several bandits and reclaiming the stolen arms.
This operation underscores the effectiveness of the recent directives from Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, emphasizing enhanced intelligence gathering and tactical deployments.
In a related development, police forces have also arrested six members of a notorious kidnapping gang operating on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, bringing a significant reduction in the kidnapping crisis in the area.
The suspects are currently aiding ongoing investigations.IGP Egbetokun reaffirmed the Police’s unwavering commitment to eradicating crime and ensuring the safety of all Nigerians.
He emphasized that the Police Force will continue to employ all necessary measures to maintain peace and security nationwide, appreciating the public’s support and cooperation in these efforts.
