The Nigeria Police Force has recorded major breakthroughs in its fight against criminal elements across the country, neutralizing nine terrorists and recovering 23 arms alongside a cache of assorted ammunition.
In Kebbi State, a swift police operation led to the rescue of a 60-year-old kidnapping victim, Umaru Bawa, after he was abducted by unknown gunmen in Gobiraje Village, Suru LGA. The operatives, tracking the assailants to Tundafari Forest in the Dakingari axis, engaged them in a fierce gun battle, neutralizing four kidnappers and arresting one with fatal injuries. Authorities also recovered ₦3 million in ransom money, already paid to the kidnappers.
Similarly, in Imo State, operatives dismantled a notorious IPOB/ESN terrorist camp in Ezioha Mbaitolu, Umuele Umuaka Njaba LGA, on February 8, eliminating two top kingpins and seizing seven AK-47 rifles, 13 pump-action guns, and hundreds of rounds of live ammunition. A follow-up operation in Nkwukwo Forest, Mbaitoli LGA, on February 9, resulted in a shootout where three more terrorist kingpins were neutralized, and additional firearms, motorcycles, and criminal charms were recovered.
Commending the operatives, Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to intensifying intelligence gathering, strengthening community engagement, and ensuring sustained operations against criminal networks nationwide.
The Nigeria Police Force urges citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, emphasizing that these operations will continue with renewed determination to protect lives and property.
