The Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS) has issued a 30-day ultimatum to the Emir of Zazzau, demanding the reopening of eight of its mosques reportedly shut down within and outside the Zaria Emirate.
The Islamic organization, through its legal representatives, A.T. Abubakar & Associates, disclosed that a formal demand letter had already been submitted to the Emirate authorities over the closures.
JIBWIS maintained that failure to reopen the affected mosques within the stipulated period would leave it with no option but to seek legal redress in court. The group said it was prepared to pursue all lawful avenues to protect what it described as its constitutional rights and religious freedoms.
The development has heightened interest among stakeholders, with many closely monitoring efforts to resolve the dispute before the expiration of the ultimatum.
Observers believe the matter could be settled through dialogue and mutual understanding, thereby preserving harmony among the parties involved. However, they note that the courts remain a legitimate avenue for resolving disputes if peaceful negotiations fail.
