The Joint Action Committee of Northern Youth Associations (JACONYA) has extended warm congratulations to Hon. Prince Abdussamad Dasuki, the Santuraki of Sokoto, following his appointment as Deputy Minority Leader of the Federal House of Representatives.
In a statement issued by the coalition’s spokesperson, Muhammad Isa Imam, Director of Public and Strategic Communication for JACONYA, the youth body described the appointment as a clear endorsement of the lawmaker’s legislative skill, royal heritage, and consistent dedication to the welfare of his constituents and the country.
“As Northern youths, we celebrate this distinguished son of the Caliphate,” the statement said. “From his meritorious service in the Sokoto State House of Assembly, through his impactful tenure in the National Assembly between 2015 and 2019, to his role as Commissioner of Finance, Hon. Dasuki has consistently demonstrated the qualities of a patriotic, compassionate, and effective leader.”
The group added that his installation as the second Santuraki of Sokoto by His Eminence, Sultan Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, further affirms his status as a prince recognized for exceptional generosity and commitment to community service.
JACONYA highlighted Hon. Dasuki’s legislative record, noting that his sponsorship of landmark bills including the North East Development Commission Bill and the Not Too Young to Run Bill, alongside oversight work that led to the establishment of a world-class Navy Secondary School in Tambuwal, has set a high benchmark for legislative performance.
While celebrating the new role, the committee urged the Deputy Minority Leader to use his position to vigorously advocate for transparency, accountability, and prudent management of public resources, ensuring that the interests of ordinary Nigerians remain central to legislative business.
It also called on him to defend the rule of law, protect the independence of the legislature, and promote inclusive and participatory governance that respects the rights of all Nigerians irrespective of political affiliation.
The youth coalition further tasked Hon. Dasuki to leverage his experience and influence to advance policies that expand access to quality education, economic empowerment, and job creation for the large youth population across Northern Nigeria.
In addition, JACONYA charged him to provide robust oversight of the executive arm, particularly in finance, security, and infrastructure, to ensure that government programs deliver tangible benefits to citizens.
“We have no doubt that Hon. Dasuki, who has already earned cross-party endorsements in his constituency due to his respect for humanity and performance, will rise to this occasion,” the committee stated.
“We task him to remain the humble and hardworking leader we know, and to use his voice and vote to deepen democracy and improve the lives of the Nigerian people.”
The Joint Action Committee of Northern Youth Associations reaffirmed its continued support for leaders who demonstrate integrity, compassion, and a genuine commitment to the common good.
