The Katsina State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has begun a 7- Day 2025 Local Government Pre – Budget Defence to analyse Budget Proposals prepared by the 34 Local Government Councils of the state.
This is to study the budgetary proposals, make amendments where possible and finally come up with visionary proposals in consonant with the promotion of economic growth and social development of the respective areas.
At the opening of the sitting on Wednesday, five local government councils comprising Sandamu, Dandume, Faskari, Funtua and Bakori from Funtua Senatorial District were invited, while each day within the 7 day period of the meeting, a number of LGAs will be invited for the sitting.
Speaking at the opening of the meeting, the Supervising Commissioner of the Ministry Hon. Bishir Tanimu Gambo who chaired the meeting pointed out to the officials of the Local Councils that they ensure their spendings go in line with their budgetary provision.
This according to him will ensure transparency and accountability which is more credible than being which-hunted.
The Commissioner stated that the sitting was to ensure easy presentation which will assist LGAs to come up with an acceptable budget proposal for 2025 fiscal year.
He therefore emphasised that all parties involved must ensure their presence at the meeting to avoid inconveniences.
