The Yobe State PoliceKidnap Gang Busted in Yobe as Police Arrest Two, Recover 26 Stolen Goats Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its crackdown on kidnapping and other violent crimes with the arrest of two suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate and the recovery of 26 goats believed to have been stolen during a coordinated operation in Gujba Local Government Area.
The arrests followed a swift investigation into the abduction of one Idi Musa of Kolmamaji Village, who was kidnapped by armed men on July 7, 2026, alongside his Kasea motorcycle.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkareem, the Gujba Divisional Police Headquarters launched an intensive search-and-rescue operation immediately after receiving a distress report on the incident. Intelligence-driven efforts were simultaneously intensified to track down the kidnappers and rescue the victim.
In a dramatic twist, the victim escaped from the kidnappers’ hideout on July 10 and reported to the police, providing crucial information that significantly advanced the investigation.
Acting on the intelligence, police operatives stormed the suspects’ hideout on July 11, arresting Musa Damuna, 23, and Yusufa Muhammad Bello, 21, both residents of Mutai Ward in Gujba Local Government Area.
During the operation, officers recovered 26 goats suspected to have been stolen, further linking the suspects to other criminal activities.
Police investigations also revealed that the kidnappers had already sold the victim’s motorcycle before their arrest. Authorities said efforts are underway to recover the motorcycle and track down other members of the syndicate who remain on the run.
The two suspects are currently in police custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Reacting to the successful operation, the Commissioner of Police, CP Usman Kanfani Jibrin, psc, mspsp, commended the operatives for their professionalism and urged officers across the command to sustain proactive, intelligence-led policing in the fight against crime.
He also appealed to residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information, assuring the public of the command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Yobe State.
