FG Medicare Intervention In Bauchi: Minister Warns Against Items Diversion for Self-Centeredness

Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Mohammed Ali Pate has warned health officials and stakeholders against theft and diversion of medicare meant to improve the wellbeing of people, especially pregnant women and newborn.

Prof. Ali Pate said that the federal government in collaboration with the Bauchi government is intervening.in the state in Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (CEmONC) equipment worth N10 billion towards the provision of healthcare services

Flagging-off the medicare items distribution in Bauchi weekend, the minister outlined them to include pieces of equipment, drugs and commodities to 15 Local Government Areas of the state, commodities for
20 PHCs, while 20 PHCs will receive equipment.

According to him, the items are critical equipment for distribution across the state that included labour and delivery equipment, hot softhing machines, low pressure oxygen, and various equipment that are related to labour and delivery rooms for women to have safe delivery, as well as threatre equipment to enable surgery intervention to various sections.

“These facilities which included 15 rural ambulances and six tricylar ambulances are spread across the state, we have 17, 000 maternity kids for 17, 000 pregnant women. These kids comprised of basic items that they need for safe delivery in case they need to deliver with out much prepations”.

The minister further stated, “Bauchi we are very grateful, for the privilege that the President has granted for us, to be able to support the needs of our population. In addition, the national health fellows, there is one in each LGA in the first call that have now been recruited into the federal civil service”.

“So congratulations to all the national health fellows from Bauchi state, as well as the twenty second calls, they are also present, one in each local government, but that is also the tip of the ice-berg, because more than 3, OOO young men and women of Bauchi state have been recruited into federal facilities all over Nigeria”.

Pate added, “As you can see, as we get through the political season, ours is the politics of development, it’s not politics of rancour, it’s politics of joining hands with whoever it is that will move our state forward. It’s not politics of abuses, of rancour, of petty rivalry, of selfishness and self-interest, it is the politics of development, that is the direction of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu”.
