A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, has formally dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), declaring that he will seek re-election on the platform of his new party.
The lawmaker representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency announced his defection in a letter read during plenary by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas.
Bello El-Rufai said the move marked the beginning of a new political chapter focused on “progressive, people-oriented service,” adding that he was joined by Hon. Engr. Suleiman Richifa, representing Soba, and Hon. Umar Ajilo, representing Makarfi/Kudan, who also defected to the ADC.
The lawmaker, son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, said the decision to leave the APC was taken after careful reflection and guided by “courage, conviction, and the belief that the people deserve the very best.”
He assured constituents in Kaduna North that his commitment to quality representation remained unwavering, stressing that “the work continues and will not stop.”
Bello El-Rufai also unveiled plans to strengthen healthcare delivery in the constituency through a new Primary Health Care initiative.
According to him, an ad hoc committee for the programme will soon be announced, with plans already underway to equip primary healthcare centres with essential medical supplies, including 1,000 syringes per PHC.
He disclosed that the first phase of the intervention would commence in Unguwar Sarki Ward and Badarawa/Malali Ward.
The lawmaker prayed for divine guidance in leadership and called for continued support as he pursues what he described as people-focused representation under the ADC platform.
