Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja has convicted former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, on a 12-count charge bordering on alleged money laundering involving ₦33.8 billion.
The court, however, fixed May 13, 2026, for sentencing after the former minister failed to appear physically in court for the proceedings.
Following his absence, counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, applied for a bench warrant to ensure Mamman’s arrest and production before the court ahead of sentencing.
The EFCC had accused the former minister of involvement in massive financial crimes linked to funds under the Ministry of Power during his tenure.
Justice Omotosho subsequently adjourned the matter for sentencing while steps are being taken to compel the convict’s appearance in court.
