Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, has declared that anyone plotting a coup against the country’s democratic government is merely wasting time, insisting that Nigerians will never support any unconstitutional takeover.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Friday, the defence chief dismissed recent coup allegations involving some military personnel, describing those standing trial as “a bunch of confused individuals.”
Musa stressed that democracy remains the only acceptable path for national leadership, noting that the Armed Forces of Nigeria are fully committed to protecting the constitution and preserving democratic governance.
He warned that any attempt to destabilise the country through unconstitutional means would fail, maintaining that Nigerians have moved beyond the era of military takeovers.
The defence chief also reaffirmed the military’s loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and its resolve to tackle insecurity across the country.
