Fresh fears over the fragile security situation in Kaduna State have emerged following the reported killing of 10 farmers by suspected armed bandits in Kangi village, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area.
The victims were said to have left their community for their farms on Saturday but were allegedly ambushed and killed by the attackers, throwing the village into mourning.
The latest bloodshed has renewed concerns over the effectiveness of reported peace arrangements with armed groups operating in parts of Birnin Gwari, an area that has suffered repeated attacks, kidnappings and killings over the years.
Residents described the incident as another devastating setback for farming communities already struggling with insecurity and fear of violent attacks during the cultivation season.
As of the time of filing this report, security authorities had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
The attack has sparked fresh calls for intensified security operations to protect rural communities and enable farmers to return safely to their fields.
The victims have been remembered in prayers, with many expressing hope that lasting peace and improved security will return to Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State, and other troubled communities across Nigeria.
