A new chapter in Sokoto’s traditional leadership unfolded at the weekend as four newly appointed district heads paid a courtesy visit to Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Sarkin Yamman Sokoto, receiving a strong charge to promote peace, unity and grassroots development in their respective domains.
The delegation comprised the District Head of Binji, Alhaji Usman Dan Sarki; Ubandoman Gari of Hamma’Ali, Alhaji Aminu Ubandoma Jelani; Sarkin Kabin Kebbe, Hon. Lawali Labbo Margai; and Sarkin Yamman Balle, Alhaji Aminu Aliyu, who visited the former Sokoto State Governor at his Gawon Nama residence in Sokoto.
Congratulating the traditional rulers on their appointments, Senator Wamakko described their emergence as the will of Allah and urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them through selfless service, fairness and unwavering commitment to the welfare of their people.
He stressed that traditional institutions remain indispensable partners in promoting peace, resolving communal issues and supporting government efforts aimed at accelerating development across the state.
The senator reaffirmed that the administration of Governor Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto is committed to addressing insecurity while sustaining investments in education, healthcare, agriculture, religious affairs and other key sectors to improve the lives of citizens.
Wamakko also called on local government chairmen across the state to ensure prudent management of public resources, urging them to remain loyal to government policies while providing constructive advice capable of advancing development in their councils and the state at large.
Responding on behalf of the delegation, the newly appointed district heads expressed gratitude to Senator Wamakko for his fatherly guidance and support, which they said contributed significantly to their emergence.
They pledged to uphold the responsibilities of their offices with integrity and promised to work closely with the Ahmad Aliyu administration in promoting peace, stability and sustainable development across their respective communities.
