JOS — Troops of Sector 1, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have arrested three suspected phone snatchers following a swift response to reports of criminal activities in parts of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The suspects were apprehended on Thursday, September 3, around the Yanshanu/Rikkos general areas of the state capital after troops were alerted to the alleged activities of a group targeting residents and snatching mobile phones.
According to security sources, the troops moved to the area at about 4:45 p.m. and succeeded in arresting three suspects identified as Abudulgafar Dahiru, 27; Nasiru Buhari, 27; and Nawasi Ismai, 21.
The trio reportedly admitted involvement in phone-snatching activities during preliminary questioning, although the allegations are expected to be subjected to further investigation.
Following their arrest, the suspects were handed over to the Keystone Nasarawa Gwong Division for detailed investigation and further necessary action.
The operation underscores the ongoing efforts by security forces to curb street-level criminality and enhance the safety of residents in Jos and its surrounding communities.
