Troops of Sector 4, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), alongside operatives of Operation Keystone and Operation Rainbow, have intensified security operations across Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State in a bid to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
The coordinated security deployment comes amid heightened concerns over possible unrest and renewed tensions within parts of the area.
Security sources disclosed that troops carried out aggressive show-of-force patrols and dominance operations across strategic flashpoints between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. on May 10, 2026.
According to the sources, the operation involved heavily armed troops moving through vulnerable communities and key routes identified as potential security risk zones.
The patrols were aimed at reassuring residents, deterring criminal elements, and preventing any escalation of violence within the local government area.
Military authorities said the intensified operations form part of proactive security measures designed to maintain peace and ensure residents go about their lawful activities without fear.
Security officials noted that troops remained on high alert and would sustain visibility patrols, surveillance operations, and rapid response deployments across sensitive areas.
Residents reportedly welcomed the increased military presence, expressing hope that the operations would help calm tensions and discourage criminal activities.
Barkin Ladi and other parts of Plateau State have witnessed recurring security challenges in recent years, prompting regular joint operations involving military and other security agencies.
Authorities urged members of the public to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security personnel by providing credible information capable of preventing threats to peace and stability.
Military sources emphasized that the joint security forces remain committed to protecting lives and property while ensuring that no group or individual undermines public order in the state.
