Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have intercepted suspected logistics supplies allegedly meant for ISWAP and Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) terrorists along the Banki–Kumshe route in Borno State.
The operation was carried out in the early hours of May 8, 2026, during a coordinated ambush by troops of the 152 Task Force Battalion deployed along the volatile border corridor.
Military sources disclosed that the troops, acting on intelligence, laid ambush positions along the Banki–Kumshe road at about 1:30 a.m. after reports of suspected insurgent movement from the Cameroon border axis into Nigerian territory.
According to the sources, the troops later sighted and engaged the suspected terrorists who were reportedly transporting supplies believed to be destined for insurgent enclaves.
The insurgents were said to have retreated in confusion after coming under heavy military pressure, abandoning several items during the encounter.
Troops subsequently conducted limited exploitation of the area and recovered a large cache of materials suspected to be part of the terrorists’ logistics network.
Items recovered during the operation included eight bicycles, six 25-litre jerrycans filled with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), 32 surgical drips, 19 packs of drugs, one can of vitamins, and 200 motorcycle repair parts.
Also recovered were 12 phone batteries, a phone charger, 25 bags of grains, 11 packs of sewing thread, kola nuts, 93 rolls of detergents, food items, and other sundry materials.
Security analysts believe the interception represents another significant disruption to the supply chain sustaining terrorist operations within the North-East.
Military authorities have repeatedly stressed that insurgent groups rely heavily on hidden logistics networks involving fuel, medical supplies, food items, communication gadgets, and motorcycle parts to sustain mobility and attacks across remote areas.
The latest interception is part of intensified military operations aimed at cutting off supply routes and weakening the operational capacity of ISWAP and Boko Haram factions operating around border communities in Borno State.
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have sustained aggressive ambushes, raids, and surveillance operations along key infiltration corridors linking Nigeria with neighbouring countries.
Security officials said the Banki–Kumshe axis remains one of the critical routes often exploited by insurgents for smuggling supplies and movement across border communities.
Military sources further disclosed that surveillance and domination patrols have been intensified in the area to prevent fleeing insurgents from regrouping or recovering abandoned materials.
Residents of border communities have also been urged to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies with credible intelligence capable of exposing terrorist movements and collaborators.
The military maintains that sustained pressure on insurgent logistics and supply chains remains central to ongoing efforts to degrade terrorist capabilities and restore lasting peace in the North-East.
