Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have scored a major breakthrough in the fight against terrorism, intercepting a large cache of ammunition and suspected explosive components along the Kaduna–Jos highway.
The operation, carried out near Manchok, saw security forces stop and search a commercial Opel Wagon conveying seven passengers, leading to the shocking discovery of hidden war materials.
Recovered items include 569 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition, high-velocity warheads, and 189 empty shells of 7.62mm rounds—alongside discarded mobile phones believed to be components for Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
The driver, identified as Khalifa Bawa, reportedly claimed the deadly cargo was a “waybill” consignment but failed to provide details of the sender or recipient, raising strong suspicion of a coordinated arms supply network.
All occupants of the vehicle have been taken into custody as investigators intensify efforts to unravel the source and destination of the shipment.
Security sources say the interception delivers a heavy blow to terrorist logistics, preventing what could have been a deadly operation and reinforcing ongoing efforts to cut off arms flow across volatile regions.
