Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has dismissed reports that he was offered the African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential ticket, declaring that nobody approached him for the position because “they know my worth.”
Amaechi made the clarification after the ADC’s 2027 presidential primary held on Monday, where former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar emerged winner of the contest.
The former Rivers governor finished second in the primary with 504,117 votes, trailing Atiku, who secured 1,846,370 votes to clinch the party’s presidential ticket. Former banker Mohammed Hayatu-Deen came third with 177,120 votes.
Reacting to speculations over a possible running mate arrangement, Amaechi firmly denied ever being offered the vice-presidential slot, insisting that his political stature and experience are well known within the party and across the country.
His comments have further fuelled political debate within opposition circles as parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.
