A political support group backing Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken a bold step in boosting education in Katsina State, sponsoring final examination fees for 300 students of Arabic Teachers College under the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS).
The initiative, executed by Tinubu/Dikko Assured (TDA) 2027, was unveiled on Monday in Katsina, drawing commendation from government officials and community leaders who described it as timely and impactful.
Representing the Commissioner for Education, Yusuf Suleiman-Jibia, at the event, Hajiya Raliya Yusuf-Jiba praised the group for easing the burden on students—particularly those from low-income families—enabling them to complete their academic journey without financial setbacks.
She stressed that education remains a cornerstone for sustainable development and called on other organisations and well-meaning individuals to emulate the gesture.
“This intervention is a strong reminder that government alone cannot shoulder the responsibility of education. Collective effort is key,” she noted.
Speaking on behalf of the group’s Director-General, Alhaji Umar Ahmad-Zayyad, the Katsina State Coordinator, Ibrahim Khalil, said the sponsorship reflects TDA’s commitment to youth empowerment and societal growth.
“Education shapes the future. By supporting these students today, we are investing in a better tomorrow,” he said, adding that the group would sustain initiatives that uplift young people across communities.
The Chairman of Katsina Local Government, Isah Miqdad, also applauded the effort, noting that it complements ongoing government interventions in both education and infrastructure.
According to him, the sponsorship will significantly reduce financial pressure on parents and guardians while motivating students to remain focused on their studies.
Beneficiaries and residents did not hide their excitement, describing the gesture as a lifeline. Many pledged to take their studies more seriously, urging the group to expand such interventions to reach more communities.
In a further show of community impact, the group also handed over a motorised borehole to residents of Kwaron Dorawa in Sabuwar Unguwa, Katsina metropolis—bringing relief to locals who have long struggled with water scarcity.
The twin interventions—education support and water provision—underscore a growing trend of political support groups stepping into grassroots development, even as the road to 2027 begins to take shape.
