Shehu of Borno declares end of Second term for primary, secondary schools witin Maiduguri

His Royal Highness, the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-kanemi has announced closure of both primary and secondary school within Maiduguri following the successful completion of examination.The royal father announced this today Thursday, 28th of March 2024 mark the official end of the Second term session for primary and secondary schools in Borno State.

The Shehu who made the announcement today in his palace said the date for the resumption of Third term is fixed for April 29th 2024.

In his address, the Shehu of Borno advised school students to utilise the holiday period for continous studying of their books while also urging them to assist their parents at home and in their businesses during their four week stay at home.

On his part, the Education Secretary of MMC Local Government Education Authority, Dr Umar Goni said that efforts are ongoing to ensure smooth running of next academic session while emphasizing that strategies will be put in place to improve the students in all area of academic studies particularly in scientific and arithmetic calculation through memorization of four Figure table for students in JSS one, two and Three, so as to prepare them ahead for scientific exploration.

Dr Goni disclosed plans to change the method of Junior Waec marking in the state, stating that, contrary to the initial methods where students Junior Waec exams are been marked within the school, the new method will involve swapping Junior Waec exams answer booklet within schools across the state in order to eradicate exam malpractices and improve the standard of education in the state

The Education secretary however urged parents to ensure to help their children with revision of what they have learnt in the just concluded session so as to keep their memory active against the coming academic session
