The Renewed Hope Advocacy and Grassroots Engagement Network (RHAGEN) has reaffirmed its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, saying a second term in 2027 is critical to consolidate ongoing reforms and deliver long-term transformation.
The group, which says it has structures in all six geopolitical zones and in every local government area, made the declaration at a national meeting in Abuja on Monday.
RHAGEN Director-General, Hon. Dr. Shuaibu Bawa Jaja, urged Nigerians to be wary of what he described as “political jobbers and agent provocateurs” seeking to undermine the President’s agenda for selfish reasons.
“Although there is still much to be done, the administrative scorecard of President Tinubu shows a leader with the burden and determination to lift Nigeria out of the problems created by years of poor governance,” Dr. Jaja said.
He argued that RHAGEN is more than a campaign structure for 2027. “We are an institutional platform for promoting stewardship and responsible governance, not just for the next election, but for a leadership vision that extends beyond 2031,” he added.
Dr. Jaja said the constitutional provision for two presidential terms was designed to give performing leaders the time needed to complete projects and address complex national and regional challenges.
“A President sometimes needs a second term to correct, improve, or complete policies that could not be fully implemented in the first term,” he said. “President Tinubu came into office at a time when Nigeria was dealing with the consequences of prolonged bad leadership. That is what this administration is working to erase from our political history.”
He noted that criticism of the government has so far failed to produce a united or constructive alternative.
“If you stop an athlete midway and ask for results, how fair is that? Nigerians have the right to demand accountability. But that demand is stronger if we allow the President to complete his constitutionally allowed eight years,” he said.
He stressed that the group’s support is not a plea. “He is not begging for it. He is contesting for it seriously,” Dr. Jaja said.
Also speaking, RHAGEN National Coordinator and Secretary General, Hon. Harrison Asuquo Sam, FNGC, said the group’s strength lies in its ability to translate national objectives into grassroots mobilization.
“Our responsibility goes beyond elections. We are building a disciplined, organized platform that connects government policies with the realities of citizens at the grassroots,” he said.
He said RHAGEN will continue to strengthen its structures nationwide, promote issue-based engagement, and provide channels for citizens to give feedback on government programs.
Hon. Sam urged Nigerians to engage in politics based on facts, policies and ideas, rather than misinformation or personal attacks.
“RHAGEN remains committed to supporting policies that advance national development, democratic stability, good governance, and a more disciplined political culture,” he said.
RHAGEN said it will intensify voter education and grassroots engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
