Residents of Makabartar Tsohuwar Tasha Community in Unguwar Dandutse Ward, Funtua, have applauded the Councillor representing Dandutse Ward, Nasiru Ya’u Poly, following the commencement of construction of a long-awaited culvert that will restore access to the community and its graveyard.
The project brings hope to residents who have endured years of hardship due to the dilapidated state of the culvert, especially during the rainy season when flooding often cut off movement and made visits to the cemetery difficult.
Speaking during the flag-off of the project, the Chairman of the community, Malam Muttaqa Saidu, described the intervention as a major relief, saying the councillor had responded to a long-standing appeal by the people.
He noted that the new culvert would significantly improve mobility, reduce the challenges faced by residents during heavy rains, and enhance access to key parts of the community.
Another resident, Malam Isuhu Okoye, also praised the initiative, stressing that the reconstruction would improve transportation, boost safety, and make it easier for families to access the graveyard throughout the year.
Flagging off the construction, Councillor Nasiru Ya’u Poly said the project reflected his commitment to responsive representation and grassroots development.
He assured residents that more people-oriented projects would be executed across Dandutse Ward to improve their welfare and address critical infrastructure needs.
The councillor also acknowledged the support of the Chairman of Funtua Local Government Council, Alhaji Abdumutalib Jibril Goya, saying the cooperation of the council had been instrumental in delivering developmental projects to the ward.
Residents expressed optimism that the completion of the culvert would permanently end years of transportation challenges and further improve access to essential public facilities, describing the project as a welcome milestone in the development of the community.
