Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has declared that expanding youth empowerment initiatives through non-governmental organisations is one of the most effective ways to tackle unemployment and reduce crime across the state.
The governor made the remarks on Friday while receiving members of the Amana Sai Dan Amana Political Movement during a courtesy visit at the Muhammadu Buhari Government House in Katsina.
Radda said organisations that equip young people with vocational skills and economic opportunities are complementing government efforts to address poverty and insecurity by creating self-reliant entrepreneurs instead of job seekers.
He praised the Amana Sai Dan Amana Political Movement for combining political mobilisation with grassroots empowerment programmes, describing the group as a dependable partner in his administration’s drive for sustainable development.
The governor also expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would approach future elections with optimism, insisting that his administration had fulfilled key campaign promises and earned the trust of the people through impactful projects and policies.
To strengthen the organisation’s activities, Radda announced the donation of an official vehicle to the movement, while revealing that a member of the North West Development Commission, Alhaji Shamsu Funtua, had donated 20 sewing machines to support its vocational training programmes.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to women-focused initiatives, acknowledging the critical role women played in the electoral success of his government and promising sustained investment in programmes that improve their economic wellbeing.
Earlier, the founder of the Amana Sai Dan Amana Political Movement, Hajiya Hauwa Sambo, said the organisation was committed to promoting peaceful political participation, supporting good governance and countering misinformation targeting the state government.
She disclosed that the group had already empowered 100 vulnerable women through skills acquisition programmes and voter education campaigns, while unveiling plans to train another 1,000 youths and women in Katsina Local Government Area in marketable vocational skills.
Other speakers, including Rukayya Nuhu, Ahmed Armayau, Youth Leader Nura Muhammad and Women Leader Zainab Sani, commended Governor Radda’s people-centred policies and pledged continued support for initiatives aimed at improving the living standards of Katsina residents.
