President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged state governors across Nigeria to shift their attention from constructing what he described as unnecessary flyovers and instead channel public resources into projects that directly improve citizens’ quality of life and strengthen security.
The President stressed that governance should be measured by its impact on the welfare of the people rather than the number of monumental infrastructure projects erected across states.
Tinubu said governors should prioritize investments that create jobs, improve healthcare, expand access to quality education, boost food production, and enhance security, noting that these areas have a more lasting effect on the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
He emphasized that while infrastructure remains important, projects must be driven by genuine public needs and economic value, warning against spending scarce resources on expensive flyovers where they are not urgently required.
The President maintained that improving living standards, protecting lives and property, and delivering people-oriented development should remain the core focus of every state government.
His remarks come amid growing debates over the rising cost of infrastructure projects and increasing calls for governments at all levels to prioritize human capital development, economic growth, and security over prestige projects.
