Presidential candidate of Allied People’s Movement (APM) Seyi Makinde, has urged Nigerians to terminate the tenure of the ruling APC administration at the 2027 general elections, attributable to it’s bad governance and economic policies, as well as it’s promotion of insecurity bedeviling the country since it’s inception to power.
APM presidential flagbearer Seyi Makinde who tendered the appeal at the party’s presidential campaigns flag-off weekend in Bauchi, expressed worrisome that hunger, insecurity, lack of inclusiveness is pervading the country since the inception of the APC administration in 2023, hence the need to reset Nigeria for the betterment of it’s citizens.
Oyo State Governor Makinde at his presidential campaigns Flags-off in Bauchi weekend, said “The biggest problem in Nigeria today is hunger. Our people are hungry and because we are hungry, should we reset the economy”.
The presidential candidate explained that there is widespread insecurity across the country, and stressed the need for resetting the security architecture, saying “Our people are not allowed to participate in governance, in political processes, we should reset the political environment”
Makinde, who noted that the exclusion of ordinary Nigerians from governance makes it necessary to reset the country’s socio-political environment for broader participation, said that the nation’s economic difficulties require an economic reset, and the need for a review the security architecture to curtail insecurity.
He argued, “If you are not happy with the way things are in the country today, if you are not happy that there is not enough inclusivity, if you are not happy that your government cannot tell you the truth and cannot handle our issues with sincerity, then there is only one path for us, and the path is to reset Nigeria”.
While urging Nigerians to become resetters, Makinde describes his party’s movement as an opportunity to address the country’s challenges through strategic approach to governance, and urged supporters to shun financial inducements that could influence their voting pattern.
Governor Seyi Makinde however asked eligible voters to collect any inducement that could be offered to them, but vote in dictate of their conscience, emphasizing “Don’t bother at all when they bring money. It’s your money. Collect it, spend it, but vote your heart”.
Makinde commended his host, Governor Bala Mohammed whom, he described, as true APM national leader and versatile politician, and the APM national chairman, Yusuf Dantalle, for providing him the platform to contest the 2027 elections
Flagging-off the presidential campaigns, the APM National Chairman, Alh. Yusuf Dantalle noted democracy is thriving in Bauchi having all the political parties with their offices firmly rooted all over places, saying “This is what we want to entrench in all political processes across the country to ensure political, social and economic security aimed at raising the living standard of Nigerians generally.
The APM national chairman who regretted that the ruling APC has dictatorically subjected Nigerians to languishing poverty, squalor, and insecurity, said that their movement is poised to reset democracy, governance, economy and the social conditions of Nigerians generally, and commended Governor Bala Mohammed for providing conducive political environment for all parties to thrive.
Alh. Yusuf Dantalle explained that the presence of different political parties’ offices, billboards, posters and campaign materials in the state capital of Bauchi in particular attested to the practice of genuine democracy, however expressed concern that democratic freedoms had been restricted in virtually all parts of the country by the APC-led central government, assuring that the APM was determined to reverse the situation.
“APM is not out for imposition of candidates at any level. We are out for giving back to the people what truly belongs to them. And that is the choice to determine who you want to be at all levels,” he said, stressing that the party was prepared to subject its programmes and policies to public scrutiny.
Also speaking the Director-General of the APM National Campaign Council for the 2027 presidential election, Felix Hassan Hyat accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration of worsening hunger and poverty in the country, noting that many citizens now go to bed without food.
Mr. Felix Hassan Hyat who observed that Nigerians have experiencing economic hardship since the inception of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led government’s assumption to power,
expressed doubts about the administration’s ability to address the country’s economic challenges and social upheavals.
Mr. Hyat appealed to Nigerians irrespective of party leanings to flash out the ruling APC comes 2027 general elections, and afford the APM the electoral opportunity to redirect the country towards economic recovery, security and peaceful co-existence of it’s diverse groups.
“They are now telling people that things will get better, but when exactly will that happen? Ever since the APC took power, the citizens of this country have known nothing but hardship, poverty and squalor. The only solution is to replace them in 2027 so that the country can be set on the right path,” Hyat said.
Hyat also expressed concern over the deteriorating security situation, saying insecurity had forced many children out of school thereby denieying them access to education, and urged all eligible voters
to embrace the Makinde/Daura presidential ticket as an alternative to the current administration.
