The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested seven suspected bandits in connection with ongoing investigations into criminal activities in Bagudo Local Government Area, including the recent attack that claimed the lives of three Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) personnel.
The arrests were made during intelligence-led operations targeting bandit networks operating within the Soda Forest axis and neighbouring border communities.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, Mobile Police operatives acting on credible intelligence intercepted three suspects along the Illo–Lolo Road while they were travelling on a motorcycle from the Soda Forest area.
The suspects, identified as Muhammadu Bande, Aliyu Abubakar and Muhammadu Aliyu, were allegedly on a mission to procure food supplies for bandits hiding in forest camps. The motorcycle used in the operation was also recovered.
In a separate operation along the Bakin Ruwa–Ka’oje corridor, security operatives arrested four additional suspects identified as Haruna Abubakar, Abubakar Lawali, Anme Shehu and Yahaya Shehu as part of intensified efforts to dismantle criminal networks in the area.
Police said the suspects remain in custody while investigations continue to determine the full extent of their activities and possible links to recent security breaches, particularly the deadly attack on FRSC personnel.
Commissioner of Police Umar Hadejia described the arrests as a major breakthrough in the command’s fight against banditry and violent crime, praising the operatives for their professionalism, resilience and commitment to safeguarding communities across the state.
The latest operation underscores ongoing efforts by security agencies to tighten the noose around criminal elements operating in Kebbi and other parts of the North-West.
